I’ve always launched my books with a blog tour organised by the fabulous Rachel’s Random Resources (www.rachelsrandomresources.com). I started doing it because everyone else was and I thought that was just what you did when you had a book coming out! But, as I’ve just launched my seventh contemporary romance, I’ve come to realise a few things about blog tours and why you should definitely, definitely have them!

1. Make a splash!

When Summer Strawberries at Swallowtail Bay was published, so many bloggers were taking part on publication day that we ended up trending on Twitter!

I have to say, it was one of the most surreal and exciting things that has ever happened to me. But even without that, having a blog tour that launches on, or just after publication day, can really help get your book out there and in people’s minds.

Being all over Twitter, Instagram or Facebook with people talking about your book is one of the best ways of raising your profile as an author.

2. Engagement

The other wonderful thing about blog tours is that you get to meet and engage with book bloggers, because not only will you have people signed up to your blog tour who you can get to know and follow for their book recommendations, but posts get shared and commented on which gives you a chance to chat!

We all love books which is why we read and/or write them, so it’s a brilliant way to find people who like the same things you do and become part of a community that shares your interests.

3. Reviews!

Reviews do SO much for us authors, it really can’t be understated how important they are. We’ve all heard rumours of Amazon’s weird and wonderful algorithms that kick in at 50 reviews and then a different one that kicks in at say 100 reviews. I don’t know if that’s true but I do know that reviews help us get selected for promotions like Kindle Monthly Deals and BookBubs.

They also helps us find new readers because it’s one thing for us to say how much we love our books, but quite another for a book blogger or reader to say something nice! Reviews really help us prove our worth to those who are on the fence about spending money on a book from someone they’ve never read before.

So the next time you’re wondering if you should leave a review or not, please do (especially if you liked it!). Writing is quite a lonely profession and your kind words always, ALWAYS make our day!

If you’re interested in a blog tour, then do check out Rachel at www.rachelsrandomresources.com, but there are lots of other amazing blog tour providers too.
